![]() ![]() Sadly, Preview still cannot be trusted as a productive markup tool for PDF documents. ![]() One would think that after 2+ years Apple would have corrected these types of issues. Unfortunately, I have to continually repeat the process of reformatting if I re-open and edit any exiting text box, making Preview effectively worthless. However, when I try to edit existing Text boxes that were previously added to the PDF file, the instant I click in the box the text formatting goes wonky and I have to recreate the Text box to get the same formatting I had as original. The annotations I made were mostly highlights and some text boxes - all done within Preview. Thus far I have not discovered Markup information to be missing from a PDF file when I re-open it, which is indeed an improvment. Im not sure which of those options yields the pretty preview version you want, or what it would take to convert a plain URL on the clipboard to that. Now I am trying to give Preview another chance, to see if the bugs have been resolved. For grading, losing the Markup information was exceptionally frustrating, and I had to find a workaround to do grading of electronic submissions, after, of course, losing a lot of existing work. On your device, a sketch window opens, ready for you to create a sketch with your Apple Pencil or finger: When you're finished sketching, tap Done on your device. Preview works to open images or documents, which are not identified by another program. Somewhere between 20, Apple changed something in Preview, and I learned the hard way that Markups added to a PDF file would simply disappear when a previously annotated file was opened. From either the File menu or Insert menu (depending on your app), choose Insert from iPhone or iPad > Add Sketch. If so, Apple says you can open the PDF in Preview and click a field next to a form label to see an immediate text box where you type your text.
